Neuropathic Pain & Trigeminal Neuralgia
Professor Tara Renton
Everyone has heard of Trigeminal Neuralgia even though it is the rarest of orofacial pai conditions. TN comes under the classification of neuropathic pain, even though it does not present with a neuropathic area. What is far more commonly seen in chronic orofacial pain clinics is neuropathic pain related to nerve injury. There are key features of both acute and chronic trigeminal pain with a classification of chronic orofacial pain provided by ICOP. This presentation highlights the key diagnostic features of neuropathic pain, the diagnostic work ip and management of common conditions.
